Expo Clinician for Idaho Horse Expo 2011

Chris Cox - Featured Guest Clinician
www.chris-cox.com
Chris Cox is an accomplished clinician and master horseman. With 25 years of experience, Cox has developed a successful partnership between horse and rider, making him one of the most respected individuals in the industry.

Born into the ranching business, Cox's family moved from Florida to an island off the coast of Australia to raise cattle. During his time on the 100 square-mile Prince of Wales Island, Cox worked as a hand on numerous ranches, developing a distinct relationship with the horses. His horse, Major, served asa work partner, a means of transportation, daily entertainment and even companionship.

Although Australia helped to shape his younger years, Cox perfected his horsemanship skills and focused on returning to the United States. At the age of 18, Cox took the first step to fulfilling his dream and headed back to America. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Cox trained horses and provided clinics for individuals of all skill levels who were interested in developing and perfecting their abilities.

Cox continues to offer a horsemanship program that has proven to be immensely popular with people of all ages. The success stories are the result of commitment and devotion to understanding the horse, as well as self-examination of one's own limitations.

Cox is not only a successful clinician, but he competes at the highest levels of performance horse competition. As a team roper, he competes as both a header and a healer. He often has more than 20 horses in training at his ranch, and maintains a demanding schedule full of clinics, tours and competitions.

Richard Shrake - Guest Clinician
www.richardshrake.com

Richard's method of working with horses is to begin by understanding the nature and body language of the horse.
"The Resistance FreeŽ methods have been a life-long process for me to be able to share with you the knowledge of patience, kindness and obedience when working with horses and riders. I have trained and instructed for over 40 years and my goal is to pass this on to all horse people who want a program that work for them and their horse."

Richard grew up on a dairy farm where his father, a former rodeo cowboy, kept and traded horses. This gave Shrake a lot of experience handling different horses. Through his childhood and high school years, he showed horses, and eventually studied with a dressage trainer. Shrake went to college, obtaining a degree in Education, while earning money training horses.

After starting a training facility, he began showing and quickly proved himself in western divisions against some of the best equestrians of the time. In 1979, Shrake earned the coveted "All Around" award at the American Quarter Horse Congress.

Richard's professional creditials include: Judge of 16 World Championship Shows for 5 major breeds; Teacher at over 4000 clinics; Demonstrator at over 300 Horse Expos & Fairs nationwide; Author of four best-selling equestrian books; Instructor of over 40 World Championship youth winners; and Owner of Miss Resistance Free, the perfect "10" & Breyerfest horse of the year.
